I have been following the groundbreaking work of the NhRP since it began in 1996, and am so grateful for the essential role they have achieved in the animal protection movement. Their strategic efforts to move animals from having the legal status of inanimate objects/property to attaining legal personhood and fundamental rights as sentient individuals leading lives of value to themselves (not their usefulness to humans) are the foundation for advancing all of our efforts for animals.
