Review for Assistance League of Kansas City, Gladstone, MO, USA
Moving back to Kansas City in the summer of 2020, I knew I didn't want to get back into a full time paid job, so I began to look for a place to volunteer where I could best use my 20+ years of nonprofit experience. With so many nonprofits doing amazing work in Kansas City, I thought it would be hard to choose. Having donated to the ReSale Shop, operated by the Assistance League of Kansas City, for many years, a friend suggested I take a closer look at all of the opportunities Assistance League had to offer. The ALKC supports nine different programs, benefiting children, teens, seniors, sexual assault survivors, hospitalized children and more. What surprised me most was learning that there are no paid staff! For 35 years this organization has been a well oiled machine completely run by volunteers. Sign me up! With many different committees to choose from, this is a place where everyone's time and experience is valued. And, now having an opportunity to work at the ReSale shop, I can see why it's the nicest "thrift" store in town! Check it out. If you're looking for a great volunteer experience, join us at the Assistance League of Kansas City!
