Review for Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, San Jose, CA, USA
This rescue never ceases to amaze me. No one takes a penny, from the CEO on down. They keep all the foster birds in family homes so they are loved, cared for, and socialized. They pay for veterinary care for birds in their custody with basically a bottomless pocketbook.
Exotic birds should not be kept in captivity, but the keeping of parrots is legal here in the U.S., and so is the unscrupulous breeding and sale of parrots. This organization cleans up the mess left by the bird-breeding industry and backyard breeders. God bless these folks.
As the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote in "The Little Prince":
“And the fox said to the little prince: men have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”
