My Basset Hound Duke fell ill with laryngeal paralysis in December 2020. It occured suddenly and late at night requiring treatment/surgery at an emergency clinic. The total cost exceeded $6,000 and I didn't have it. Max's Helping Paws contributed $2,500 and an additional grant of $500 came from Peace of Mind Dog Rescue. The entire experience with both organizations far exceeded anything I could have imagined. I will never forget their kindness and generosity. The surgery was successful and Duke had a swift recovery. Sadly, Duke died in December 2021 from an unrelated cause. Duke was my best friend, my constant companion and I miss him dearly.
