It has been 11 years since my time with Save the Whales and yet the activities and outreach programs we performed in this nonprofit have stuck with me and I am constantly referencing my time with Save the Whales! This watershed model was my all time favorite presentation to work with because it was a fun activity to get students of all ages to see how their actions at home would effect the watershed of the community and eventually they could see all the pollution ends up in the ocean harming the sea creatures. Another program that I worked with within Save the Whales was First Flush, this program was following the first rain of the season and allowed us to monitor and collect data of what pollution was most prominently found within the waterways leading to the ocean. Maris is an amazing leader for this program and has run Save the Whales with pride and passion that is infectious to all she encounters!
