Review for The Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 3 stars

I have been seeing ads pop up often on YouTube, I'm not sure if Humane Society of the US is the same organization as Humane Society International? Clearly this commercial is emphasizing an international issue, so I'm not positive I have the correct charity group and I apologise if I end up getting it wrong. The ad shows a young lady walking through a dog meat farm, in South Korea, and it's absolutely one of the most horrific displays I've ever seen and I've seen some brutal things including a horse at the sanctuary I help locally that is missing his eyes ; ( This commercial was highly disturbing & grotesque, I'm sorry for the lack of better language but she made sure to film the worst of worst and yet it was excruciatingly annoying to say the least, that when she said to "look at this puppy!", she sounded like you were about to see the most adorable pup ever, an excited manner or tone in her voice, only for the poor dog to be near death bones and they deliberately hid full view by having the bars of the cage in your way of actually seeing, she made sure to show us the viewers the poor dog with no eyes in his sockets, it was horrifying abuse to be subjected to and YouTube is promoting these ads that literally cause me nightmares for months and is a huge part of the reason I turned to medication for anxiety and severe depression. I wanted to see if this group was even legit, because their commercial seemed staged and the girl had tears coming down her face but I wanted to know why they aren't removing these poor animals and bringing them to a healthier environment, to care for them and provide love and medical needs, food, help, attention, etc... It drove me nuts that she was just touring this HELL but what are they actually DOING to save these doggies!?! I'm still investigating but I had to add my two cents that every single negative review has consistently mentioned, " Just donate to you local shelter" and "This organization doesn't even have a shelter", first of all, them not having a shelter doesn't bother me, it's the act of RESCUE that I am under the impression to be funding and I'm sure the idea is to bring the rescued dogs /animals to a shelter that's healthy & safe, but the fact that they themselves don't run a shelter I don't necessarily see as major cause for fraud, as there are already shelter's but someone needs to do the rescuing!!! People on here only seem focused on nit picky nonsense, so being for animal rights is something wrong or bad versus animal welfare!?! We're going to even argue about the how there is a difference!?! Seriously? Not all of us want to always be donating within the American borders and just the same local shelter's that I don't even care for, they go against biology and dictate you must keep an animal cooped up indoor often no space from I've seen in neighbors hoarded tiny apts, feed them soft vegan junk, just remove all natural instincts entirely which is no less abusive than chaining an elephant to a damn performing circus and work him/her to death!!! Besides, many local shelter's easily get help and funds, they are supported by fundraiser's, the state, get tax ride offs, plenty of donor's in the community. It's the dogs and cats and endangered species internationally that concerns me!!! An yes, rights are very important as here it's a felony to hurt an animal now at least, whereas in South Korea you can eat them! Same goes for many heinous evils that take place in Japan, China, and other Asian countries where animals are something to be used and not life at all. Those are the animals that need the help, and I genuinely want to help the puppies in those farm hells in South Korea but I'm seeking a reputable charity that actually DOES remove them and provide a caring life for them and I'd like to adopt one, although overseas I don't know but the only place anyone on here talks about helping is local shelter's and I think people have to help more severe situations in other places too!!! Everyone is just focused on local shelter's and the earth won't have the species we need for healthy ecosystems, if your such an animal lover than stop applying such narrow restrictions in who you're supporting.
