Review for GLSO Pride Center, Lexington, KY, USA

Rating: 4 stars

The Pride Center is an essential hub of the LGBT community in Lexington. It is the primary source of info about organizations and events. It has and continues to provide resources for a wide range of people and groups including youth, transgender people, and others who may otherwise feel desperately isolated. It provides a physical space for many groups to meet in safety and confidentiality. Some of the folks who have sustained the center over many years are heroes in my mind.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the incredible Pride Festival last year. I honestly think it changed this town forever.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

simply build on what is already there.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the social opportunities.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

absolutely wonderful, warm, and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

open a center downtown with spaces for meetings, cafes, arts, recreation, extensive library with all the current materials, and well-compensated staff. It could support ventures of individuals and organizations to further the strength of the LGBT communi

Ways to make it better...

it hadn't rained on SisterSound. You all can control that, can't you. ;>

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

money, location.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If the board is in need of assistance with strategic planning for the future done in an open way based on group consensus, I can help. I would love volunteer to facilitate a process for this if it is needed.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
