My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Free2Luv, Seattle, WA, USA
I came to work with Free2Luv as a volunteer grant writer and researcher. I'd never heard of this organization when I first started, but I've been absolutely blown away by the incredible work they're doing with teens, and their constant adaptability to changing needs and circumstances, like pandemics....
I worked with Kym, one of the founders of F2L. Kym is extremely knowledgeable, warm, and communicative. She consistently made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed to get the work done. She was very gracious about the learning curve, and flexible on timelines, as part of the reason I came on was to gain experience with grant writing as an MSW student.
Even though I am a remote volunteer living outside the area, Kym has made me feel like a real and valued member of the F2L team. She is constantly evaluating and coming up with new ways to fund and meet the needs of the teens and families they work with and gives clear, kind, and consistent feedback. Even in times when I'm not actively doing work for F2L, she goes out of her way to invite my own teenage daughter to participate in activities as they come up, and even sent her a t-shirt and an art kit.
As a member of the LGBT community and parent of a trans child, I highly recommend Free2Luv as a safe place for LGBT youth to be their authentic selves, where they will be valued and celebrated for who they are. As a future Social Worker, I can verify that Free2Luv's methods are evidence-based and constantly updated to meet the needs of the youth they are working with. By taking on volunteers like me and providing the direction that she does, Kym is also setting a beautiful example for future leaders who will continue this work. I am so glad to have met her and to have worked with F2L. Kym has been a wonderful mentor who I hope to work with throughout my career.
