Review for Worldwide Healing Hands, Kelseyville, CA, USA
As a donor and Worldwide Healing Hands (WHH) board member for the past 10 years, I have watched our nonprofit grow under the steady leadership of Dr. Paula Dhanda. Dr. Dhanda is passionate about saving mothers and children in underserved areas of the world and “walks her talk” in her dedication to improving healthcare globally. According to the World Health Organization, 99% of maternal deaths take place in developing nations, and 98% of these deaths are preventable with simple, inexpensive measures. For WHH's international missions, Dr. Dhanda and WHH's volunteer teams train local medical staff, donate thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies, perform vital surgeries and deliver babies in low-resource settings, all in an effort to create sustainable programs that reduce preventable maternal mortality. Additionally, Dr. Dhanda and Worldwide Healing Hands have partnered with local and international Rotary Clubs in their combined global effort to eradicate cervical cancer, a preventable disease that results in the deaths of 300,000 women annually.
When not traveling, Dr. Dhanda and Worldwide Healing Hands provide medical screening and vaccinations every month at the Elijah House homeless shelter in the underserved community of Lake County, California. Dr. Dhanda and WHH volunteers provide their services free of charge to those who cannot afford them. It has been my honor to contribute to an organization led by a person of such great talent and compassion.
