In 2011, I suffered a T4 spinal cord injury leaving my paralyzed from the chest down. After years of medical issues, recently, I was finally able to get in a sit ski. To say skiing completely changed the quality of my life would be an understatement. Nothing compares to the freedom and joy sit skiing produces. However, I quickly realized that without my own equipment, I would not be able to progress to the level of skiing I know that I am capable of, as I cannot get on the mountain frequently enough and it is hard to tailor program's skis to meet my level of injury. Thanks to the High Fives Foundation, this is no longer an issue! I will now be able to ski freely and unlock a level of freedom and happiness that I have yet to experience. Words cannot express how grateful I am to the High Fives Foundation and their life changing work.
