ABCH
Review for Cancer Schmancer Foundation, Malibu, CA, USA
I have survived cervical cancer. I thankfully had non-cancerous fibroids on my uterus resulting in a hysterectomy. Thank goodness for Cancer Schmancer. I was able to get information in layman's terms and it helped me feel calm. I have a wonderful OBGyn and when I have any concerns, I go to this website first to make sure I have the information I need to ask the right questions. Asking the right questions helps me and my doctor. I feel empowered by going to the site. Most women don't feel right asking questions until it is too late. Raising awareness of this site might help women feel more confident when going to their doctor.

As I stated in my review above, I have had the direct result of being able to speak with my doctor in a more thorough and direct manner. I really like my OBGyn - but I know it is essential not to take everything at face value and to take time to understand everything we talk about. I don't know if I could have done that without Cancer Schmancer.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
It might be good to have a place for doctors. It is frustrating that the medical profession knows that women are different than men, but still treat us the same. The most current information could be provided. Also, I realize that doctor's are on a short time frame, but they should offer to schedule a longer time to discuss more serious conditions. It could be a reminder how to discuss major decisions that need to be made (e.g. - should the ovaries be removed during a hysterectomy).
