Review for Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary Inc, St. Pauls, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I lost my beautiful orange tabby, Sedona, when he was just shy of his 19th birthday. He was my soul mate and the love of my life. I'm a strong believer in keeping cats indoors where they'll remain safe and healthy. Because of this, I customized my home for him, building high lofts on walls in every room, with a 6 foot carpeted tree to get to them. There were also trees and window ledges by every window in my home. I even planted oat grass for him in my yard that he loved and would enjoy when we went for our walks everyday. I planted small trees and plants that would attract birds and nature. No matter where Sedona chose to spend his time, there was always entertainment for him. Every afternoon, he wowuld get his favorite treat, freshly grated asiago cheese that he enjoyed to the end. When he turned 14, he started losing his eyesight due to hypertension. I knew nothing of this disease, but wish I did before he finally lost his eyesight 2 years before passing. Please always check your kitty's blood pressure whenever he visits the vet. I only wish I did. When Sedona turned 17, I had to remove all the lofts and tall trees so he wouldn't hurt himself. This was very painful to watch him make his way to a loft, and not feel a tree to climb. His last 2 years, I again had to customize his home for him with ramps that would take him to the bed or windows he used to enjoy sunning in. One night he made it halfway up the ramp to the bed. I woke up to see him sleeping on the ramp because he no longer had any energy. This was the darkest day of my life, and I knew then I needed to end his suffering. There isn't a day that I don't miss him and think about what a loving boy he was. He added so much to my life and it will. never be the same. In loving memory of my sweet Sedona, I will be adding this organization to my will and give regularly to their cause.
