Experiences from the "Win the Game of Life" project at the "Yeshayahu" school in Holon, Israel


This year we decided to teach the series of lessons of the "Win the Game of Life" program at school. The entire teaching staff received an explanation from the program's educational director, Sarah Asher, about the purpose of the program and the insights behind the lessons. Each teacher received a "Teacher's Guide" booklet, a copy of the "Student Booklet" and a link to the entire database of videos that accompany the lessons.
During the year, additional training sessions and ongoing accompaniment are held in order to better prepare us for the lessons.
During my work with the students I see an amazing process that happens in the classrooms (I teach the lessons in my class - fourth grade as well as in the sixth grade special education class). The students really like the lessons, they learn about the "game" of their life! They understand that the things that come up in classes are about life, the situations they experience at school, at home, with friends and almost everywhere.
I am very happy to see that students are becoming more and more aware of their reactions, for example: children have learned about the two voices within us and they increasingly understand the need to recognize "voices" and choose "which voice to listen to" to solve a problem and feel better about themselves over time.
The great thing that is happening and needs to be further intensified is the process by which we teachers are becoming more and more aware of ourselves and our reactions. The personal work of each one. The explanations given to the teacher in the teacher's booklet that accompanies the lessons and instructional sessions that are given help this to happen.
I am very!! Recommends implementing this important program in as many schools as possible in order to empower teachers and students and provide more tools for increasing personal awareness which of course contributes to improving student behavior and more appeals to learning.
