After the loss of my dog the previous year, I decided I was ready to bring a new family member into the home. We went through the application process and were told we were approved. We had a volunteer bring 2 greyhounds for a visit and we absolutely fell in love with one of them. She allowed us to spend part of the day with him and we really bonded. She asked if we wanted to keep him that day and we said we needed one week to get ready! She told us what a good match he was for us! The week leading up to adoption day we purchased a dog bed, food, leashes and even put a $300 deposit on used vehicle simply to have something big enough to bring him to the dog park! Two days prior to pick up I received a text message that they decided not to adopt to us.(I have no idea why) I was told the person who runs the organization would let me know the reason. I never heard from her. I have 20lbs of non-refundable dog food and I'm out $300 for a car I don't need. After losing my beloved dog last year, this experience was really hard.
