Review for Immigration Equality, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Immigration Equality has been so great. For the past year and a half my Brazilian partner and I have only been able to see each other when I can find the time to go visit him. He cannot come here, know my home or my family. IE has been personally supportive and works tirelessly to overcome the injustice and cruel disregard for LGBT bi-national couples. They also were instrumental in helping get the HIV travel ban repealed and continue to work to have the repeal implemented.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The number of congressional supporters of UAFA IE has courted and secured.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do nothing different.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The personal care the staff takes with the thousands of painful stories they hear in their day to day work

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Energetic, thoughtful, kind, attentive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Get UAFA passed this year.

Ways to make it better...

More people would join IE and if more congressmen and women and senators would listen to their stories.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Overcoming the dual bias against LGBT citizens and foreign nationals who want to immigrate here.

One thing I'd also say is that...

While all LGBT people have known their pain, and I have known mine over 30 years of being "out", the pain I feel at being unfairly separated from my partner is especially deep and continuous. Thank you IE for helping me cope as you help solve the problem

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
