Review for Hugs Project Incorporated, Oklahoma City, OK, USA
The most amazing thing about the nonprofit is that no one in the organization takes a salary. This is truly a labor of love for our military.

In 1990, I was stationed onboard the USS Independence in the middle of the Persian Gulf at the beginning of Desert Shield. A little church in Oklahoma wrote letters of support and then sent us care packages full of love and support. That support meant the world to me.
Because of the love of strangers so many years ago, my wife, Karen and I began a similar effort in 2004 to support the younger generation. The Hugs Project has now sent out hundreds of thousands of care packages and we continue to support.
We are also funding an effective treatment for TBI/PTSd called hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Veterans are given too many drugs to mask the side effects of combat "hidden wounds" of the brain. These drugs are contributing to a suicide epidemic. This must change and HBOT is the most effective way of healing the damage caused to the brain by blast injuries. Please research to learn more.
Our Veterans need to know that hope is here and help is coming.
By the way, I married the lady who started the effort at that little country church. God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform.

They do what they say they will. They do it when they say they will. I think they are aces!!

If I could give this fraud a lower rating than one, I would. If one wants to learn about Leonard Dale "Mac" McQuown, read the comments on this article....http://www.thetowntalk.com/comments/article/20140221/NEWS01/302210028/Ex-Marine-walking-15-000-miles-behalf-homeless-veterans
The paper obviously didn't do any research before the story but the comments are telling.

When I served in the Navy during Desert Shield and Storm, care packages were the best part of ANY day. That hasn't changed.
We are making a difference in the quality of American lives and it feels good. Come join us.

I've worked with this group for almost 7 years. We're all volunteers. No one takes a salary.
I was a lonely sailor onboard the USS Independence in 1990. I picked an "Any Servicemember" letter out of a stack in the morale office so I know the great feeling support from strangers brings. I want to pass that on.
Our troops let us know that this project affects the way they look at things. One young Marine wrote, "You are rocking our world". Does it get any better?
Well, for me it did...the great feeling I got from my Desert Shield pen pal is one reason I asked her to marry me over 18 years ago. My wife, Karen is the driving force behind The Hugs Project and she's still the love of my life.

It's great to read the thank you notes our troops send back. Even better when they look us up when they come home to OKC.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Make sure Karen gets more rest. She never sleeps!
