My grandpa was a doctor in WWII. Traumatized by what he saw and experienced, his life and the lives of his family and the next generation were affected. He spent the rest of his life in a Veteran’s home, heavily sedated. He could’ve been released but my mom wouldn’t sign the release after having experienced his erratic, frightening behavior, once home from the war. I remember him visiting us a couple times a year, talking to us in slow motion because of the heavy sedation. I loved him but was incredibly frightened by that. He died alone in a hospital. My mom was never notified until after his death. A K9 would’ve helped with his PTSD.
