Review for Ecumenical Shelter Network of Lake County, Inc. dba Project Hope for the Homeless, Painesville, OH, USA
Project Hope has been servicing Homeless in Lake County for a number of years.
I first heard about Project Hope through other volunteers of PH who happen to be members of the church I attend.
Various ways of supporting by our church volunteers were offered such as packing lunches for the homeless and preparing and serving Thanksgiving Brunch annually. Also the church donated proceeds from our annual rummage sale with matching funds continually supporting a cause that serves the homeless of Lake County.
Learning more about Project Hope from a staff person who recently retired sparked my interest even more as to how I might become involved.
A friend invited me to consider serving on the Board of Trustees which I have done for the past 2 years. This experience has given me many oppotunities to understand and know the mission and workings of individuals on staff and the professional and expert ways they carry out that mission.
Recently serving on a task force I had the privelege of meeting a previous guest of the shelter who after finding herself and children homeless shared her success story. Project Hope was an important key to her regaining her footing, going back for further education and now working and having her own place to live.
Our Executive Director has a passion and commitment to strive to service the needs of clients/guests daily. She is skillful in her duties and works with all agencies in our community. As a board member I'm aware of the great lengths that are taken to continually meet and project the future needs of Lake County homeless. Excellent records are kept monthly of the financials and of the homeless statistics in regards to number of individuals served, age , gender, etc.
I once visited on site with a volunteer who earlier in her life had been homeless and at this time has given countless hours because of her belief in the work of Project Hope.
Projrct Hope has been digging for new ways to engage volunteers because of the numbers of individuals that want to help. A good problem to have "How can we engage and utilize the time and talents these individuals bring to P. H. "
This organization epitomizes great caring and concern for those in need and continually seeks moving forward to fulfill it's mission.
