Review for Unity a Journey of Hope, Vanderbilt, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This was a review sent to me John Robinson from a medical Social worker about a patient she has and UNITY granted a wish for....

I am a pediatric oncology social worker. One of my "kids" had recently relapsed at the age of 19. Most wish foundations allow wishes up to the age of 18. My young adult was understandably upset by the news, She is a sophomore in college and was unable to return to school. She had committed to 18 months of missionary work and, due to the relapse, was unable to meet her commitment. Her world, along with the family's world, had crashed around them. This news put me on a mission to find an organization who could grant her the wish of an iPad mini. She said it would allow her to keep in touch with her friends at school, read books on line and communicate with her family, during times when she could not leave her home.

When I read about "Unity A Journey of Hope", I immediately sent in a referral. John Robinson contacted me through email, requesting more information. John was very clear with stating the foundation could not guarantee to grant the wish but he would do his best. Several weeks later I received the email stating the wish had been granted. I am not sure who was more excited, John or me. I promised not to tell the family so it would be a surprise.

The next time I saw my family, the recipient was just smiling from ear to ear; something I had not seen since she began treatment. Mom was just as excited.

I would like to thank your wonderful foundation for being so generous, not only to my family, but to all the families you touch. I wish there were words to describe how much our families appreciate the gifts but, the wonderful by-product of it all, is the parents finally seeing their child smile again. It is just priceless.

Wishing all the best to everyone involved with "Unity A Journey of Hope".

Have a great day!

I am John the Co-Founder of UNITY. Recently we have been seeking grants and support. A lot of corporation want to see outcomes and goals that produce something material or tangible that you can see, feel, smell, touch. With Unity we may not be able too fill those shoes but, when a wish recipient says to me, " I forgot I had cancer today" or " I did not think I would see my husband ever smile again" or after Unity granted a wish to a 94 year old lady she said to me, " I have been on hospice waiting to die, but because of the wish I can't wait to live!" UNITY A JOURNEY OF HOPE, "Changing lives 1 wish at a time..." This is what UNITY is about and IF you want to make a difference come join our PASSION!

Unity has existed now for 5 1/2 years changing lives along the way. Giving HOPE when hope is ripped away by a life-limiting illness. Unity changes the focus and helps create memories that transcend time.
Wishes that include family are my favorites. Seeing families bond, laugh, smile and realize even if for a
minute or a day that LIFE is worth living and they all get to share. Do I wish Unity was bigger...YES...
Do I wish Unity has a million dollars...YES... Do I wish for corporate sponsorship...YES... UNITY is truly blessed in more ways than one and my 3 wishes in no way are a measure of success, because each wish we do DOES change lives, creates memories and creates a purpose. Is UNITY a SUCCESS...YES... and wont you join UNITY and help us "Change lives, 1 wish at a time..."

Unity grants wishes to adults w/a life-limiting illness. They are small but the wishes they grant are life-changing. They give HOPE when hope is ripped away by such an illness. Changing the focus is what Unity does. They are a great organization and accountable. I would donate to them ipo a HUGE national charity.

Unity grants wishes to adults w/a life-limiting illness. UNITY not only grants the wish but Unity also changes the FOCUS off of the dis-ease to the wish. UNITY gives HOPE where none is an option. UNITY gives people the inner strength to persevere in the eyes of adversity. UNITY also grants wishes to veterans, Unity also has Operation Christmas Wish, and Unity also leases for FREE Medical Equipment for people to use. I love the joy it brings. Write a review, view the website and share the joy!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

by going on wishes that were granted.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would help in the IT dept, PR dept so it can grow!
