Review for Ryerss Farm For Aged Equines, Pottstown, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Ryerss Farm (and its talented support staff) is a glowing example of what a not-for-profit should be. A friend of mine introduced me to Ryerss several years ago and everytime that we get a chance to visit the farm we are still pleasantly surprised. The office staff is welcoming, the volunteers are friendly and the entire area is in great shape - you can tell that this is the real deal. The horses are of course the most wonderful part of Ryerss but let's face it, we all suspected that anyway so if anyone asks what makes the farm stand out it's the dedication of those involved.
I support several different animal causes both local and national. I love that I am able to stop by Ryerss when I'm in the area and visit with the horses. Some of the other causes I support have also worked synergistically with Ryerss to make improvements and that gives me even more faith in them.
Whenever I'm out and about and find fellow animal lovers (bookstores, vacation, meetings) I try and spread the word. I'm not sure how many people really know of all the hard work Ryerss staff does. Those of us who do see, have a great amount of respect.

All The Best-

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My family has looked into joining the waiting list for our 2 horses just in case anything should happen to us. I suppose that's the most concrete example but on a more human level, it's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and a bag of carrots.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

As much as I hate crowds....a bigger sign wouldn't be a bad idea. I've spoken to people who live literally a few miles away and have no idea that it's a rescue farm. They did get some media coverage after that horrible barn fire (thank goodness no one horse or human was injured) but you hardly ever hear about them unless you go looking for the info yourself.

Role:  General Member of the Public & I donate as often as possible, visit 2-3 times per year and try to spread the word.
