Take a kid who (oh, perhaps, say, because of their gender) might not be encouraged or feel comfortable to be loud, to be forceful, to take up space. Give that kid a guitar, a bass, a microphone, some turntables, a drum kit, keyboards. Give that kid others to collaborate with. Yeah, you get songs and happy kids. You also get young people who know that they can do amazing things in collaboration with others, that their voices are worth hearing, that they are amazing. And however many or however few songs they go on to write, play, or sing, they're going to be that much better at everything else they do. Girls Rock! DC makes this happen.
