I volunteer with this group and I love all of the other volunteers and the wonderful work they do. I've made great friends with people who truly care about the animals at the rescue. The horses are well cared for, along with the many other animals who come in to find refuge. Loving, kind, and compassionate work is done here. It's awesome!

I've worked with Save the Horses since 2008 and I love it! This organization has an amazing group of volunteers who are extremely dedicated to caring for the horses and animals at the rescue. Cheryl Flanagan is a wonderful woman who has spent her life helping injured, unwanted, neglected, and abused animals. I am proud to work with her to save more lives. I look forward to my Saturday morning volunteer work. It's sometimes hard and heavy work, but it is one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever done. The people who volunteer at Save the Horses are full of positive energy and joy while helping the horses. It's beautiful to watch so many kind and generous people giving of their time to work with an injured horse or to provide a gentle hand to a scared or abused horse. I have the greatest respect for Cheryl and her willingness to work with any horse, no matter how problematic. I have seen horses arrive with terrible issues from abuse and neglect, but with Cheryl's guidance and the kindness of our volunteers, even the most emotionally affected horses eventually turn around. Save the Horses is a fabulous place to volunteer, both physically and emotionally satisfying!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Like many non-profits, we suffer from too much need and too little money and volunteers. I don't know how to change that, but more volunteers and donations are always welcome.

Review for Childrens Peace Education and Community Enrichment Center, Kearney, MO, USA
The Children's Peace Center offers lots of fun activities to help children learn conflict resolution and develop strong and thoughtful relationships. Children learn teamwork and the importance of respect, discipline, and kindness in creating a cooperative world. Their programs are fun, informative, and thought provoking. I'm proud to be part of this organization.

This wonderfulall-volunteer organization makes itself available to various groups, including schools and camps, to teach children concepts to help them resolve conflicts; learn compassion, respect, and techniques to work together to solve problems. A traveling museum, the Children's PEACE Center is an excellent teaching tool. Individual classrooms and entire schools can benefit from a visit to the Peace Mobile.

I have been part of two seminar/online classes with IHE. I have learned so much about environmental issues, compassion for our planet and the creatures who live on it, respect for and tolerance of other points of view, the importance of critical thinking, and the joy of taking positive action for my beliefs. Zoe Weil, president of the group, has been an inspiration to so many people, living her life with truth and integrity, and she teaches her life lessons with respect and compassion. The IHE programs, whether they are for teachers or those who want only to learn more about themselves and their relationships with the world and each other, are beautifully crafted. They explore choices and offer their students new ways of looking at life's issues and their own experiences. I love, love, love this organization!

Review for Canine Guardians For Life, Millsboro, DE, USA
I have worked as a volunteer for this group since 2003 and am thoroughly impressed with the dedication and commitment of the small group of volunteers who work tirelessly to place at-risk, out-of-state dogs in loving New England new homes.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I've handled publicity and social media for the past 5 years. I've also provided other administrative duties. The e-mails we receive from our adopters is absolutely amazing. The dogs we have placed (over 450 to date) have loving and wonderful new homes, when only months before they faced euthanasia in over-crowded shelters.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
expand our foster base so that we could accommodate more dogs.

I have worked with the Peace Center for two years as a volunteer. This organization has an extremely dedicated group of people. Their Peacemobile is a wonderful way to provide students with hands-on experience in peace-building and the staff of volunteers is knowledgeable and well-trained. They love to bring the Peacemobile to schools and towns where they can offer a variety of materials to teach young people how to peacefully resolve conflict, how to respect each other, how to embrace differences, and how to empower themselves through self-esteem. Their programs are fun, interactive, inspiring, and successful!

My work with the Executive Director and board members has convinced me of their dedication and strong managment skills. The ED and her volunteer staff are constangly working to spread their message and give children the tools they need to become responsible, humane, and confident adults.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
love to see more funding and more volunteers.

What a wonderful group of people running this compassionate rescue! Cheryl and her great volunteers work tirelessly to assist horses who arrive at their shelter. Some of these horses have serious issues with their health or have been abused or neglected. Some of them were destined for slaughter. All of them find a place of love and kindness. All of the many volunteers take pride and pleasure in catering to these horses' needs, some of them spending many hours grooming, cleaning, feeding, and just handling the horses, encouraging a horse's trust that may have been lost in the past. I love them all for their generosity of time, money, and spirit.

I've seen horses, like Muffin Man, a young Mustang, start learning to trust humankind. Where their eyes were large and frightened upon arrival, they become soft and curious as they begin to feel safe and secure. I love seeing older horses like Sweetie and Roy who roam freely through the rescue. We've had several births at the rescue as well and some of our volunteers spent night and day tending to the moms during the births. Our volunteers are truly amazing!

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
Not much. My experience has been wonderful, but each person must take responsibility for making their experience work for him or her. I love volunteering with this group.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
I'm definitely learning new skills and I've met many wonderful people. I expect that some of them will remain friends for the rest of my life.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
It makes me feel that the world is a better place. My own compassion and empathy have been restored in a world that sometimes seems rather apathetic and angry.
