I would recommend Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation to anyone looking to adopt a horse, or to surrender one. They go through very thorough process, are very honest and provide great 'safety net' for horses AND people adopting them. I adopted a mare from MHWF, after doing research on several rescues, and would not hesitate adopting from them again
