Review for Big Apple Greeter, New York, NY, USA
I had visited New York once before but this time my sister came with me an she had the impression that New York was a Bad Ass City where murder, crime and drugs were on every street corner. I wanted to dispell this myth and see the city through the eyes of a local and past all the usual commercial tourist hype. We struck gold, our Big Apple Greeter was brilliant and showed us around His city with fun and no fuss. It was like having a day out with a friend and I was able to use the information later when my daughter joined me and we retaced much of the walk/ shops/ cafes/ points of interest again. I gained great insight into the Jewish religion and a Synagogue which I would never have gone into or even noticed on my on. We went into various hotel foyers and atriums to see artworks or structures hidden away and were told the reason why builders have to plan to leave open spaces fo residents. We had a great coffee at a Nespresso shop down a back street which knocked the spots of the usual Starbucks. And though it may seem cheesy, I realized that New York isn't just an iconic city, it's also a home to real people. Want constructive feedback? Keep the Big Apple Greeter scheme going for all these reasons but keep it free so that anyone can use it.
