Review for Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, Herriman, UT, USA
When you are diagnosed with a rare deadly aggressive cancer you look for hope.....for me...I found hope with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation(the CCF). This incredible charity founded by the sister of someone stolen by cholangiocarcinoma, funds much needed research, assigns mentors upon request to those needing guidance with their journeys, and so much more. To me personally as a Retired Registered Nurse with over 23 years of nursing experience, the CCF gives patients hope. The CCF holds a yearly conference that invites both the leading Docs in cholangio, patients and drug companies to meet and liase in a way that fosters incredible relationships and support while sharing the latest and greatest treatments currently available for cholangiocarcinoma. With cholangiocarcinoma being difficult to diagnose, often diagnosed at a later stage, having limited treatment options and a poor outcome patients need hope. JAMA predicts that liver Cancer and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma are predicted to be the 3rd leading cause of cancer death by 2040. What impresses me most about the CCF is how they have fostered incredibly relationships with all the leaders in the Cholangiocarcinoma field and have garnered great respect from both them and patients and their families worldwide. I call the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation my center of hope.
