Review for Wild Nest Bird Rehab, Decatur, GA, USA
Last May I heard through GA Audubon that a bird rehab in Atlanta was looking for volunteers ,I love birding so I thought this sounds interesting.
I knew nothing about baby birds but with hands on training from Nancy and encouragement from Joy I leant fast. The whole rehab team was so kind and encouraging, so eager to share their knowledge and their experiences, I was hooked. Couldn’t wait for my shift .
What I love most is that even now after 6 months and all the babies and fledgling are gone and it’s just injured adults , I learn something new every time I work there.
Nancy and her team are always trying to improve the birds physical care and quality of life . Every case is different , each birds individual needs are considered , food , habitat, stimulation from Hummingbirds to Crows and every size bird in between. The joy when a bird is released or collected to go back to his home turf is palpable and makes every minute worth while.
It’s a huge undertaking, being the only songbird rehabilitation center in Ga , they are a dedicated brave bunch of people and I highly recommend volunteering there
