Working through 60 Conferences (chapters) in a 10 County area (including Harris County and Houston, the 4th largest city in the United States), the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Galveston-Houston has done an amazing job in serving those in need throughout this large area by providing assistance with food, rent, utilities, medicines and other necessities. During the pandemic, they were chosen by the city of Houston and Harris County to distribute funds to those impacted by COVID-19 because of the Society's strong reputation of being able to quickly and efficiently get funds into the hands of the people who needed it the most.
