I am so happy to have found Virginia Organizing through church members when I moved to Harrisonburg 10 years ago. It's a great networking group. Having moved from another state, I have learned so much about this one as well as local issues. The annual Grassroots Gathering amplifies the concerns of other areas and those that overlap the local issues such as homelessness, policing, refugees and immigrants, homelessness, and policing. Whether it's demonstrating; long projects revising standard operating procedures manuals for police, or conducting surveys; or instant responses to proposed DACA and TPS changes or other legislation, Virginia Organizing really gets things moving! I am also impressed that the local chapter recently has added many young people. A few years ago retirees like me predominated. New, young members make for a vital organization.
