I began volunteering for AWOW in 2013. I brought my great-nephew, Andrew, who has autism to surf at an event in Santa Barbara. I helped with donning on wet suits and it was the most amazing experience to see first hand the benefits of surf therapy. Now eight years later I am still volunteering and I am known as “Wetsuit Whisper.” ♥️
The love and joy is palpable at the events as the AWOW team come together to create a unique surf experience for our special needs athletes and their families with no cost to them.
