Review for Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc., Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I have been with Jumpstart in Philadelphia for a year and a half as a volunteer. As a future teacher, this great experience has helped me learn a great deal about myself and how to interact with children ages 4-5. This experience also helped me to connect with the teachers and assistant teachers at the school where I am stationed at. At the end of last year, I was and still am proud to know that the child I have been partnered with made it into Kindergarten. I love this program because it gave me great experience in working with children and helping out in the classroom.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The 2009-2010 school year.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I think the organization is fine as it is but it needs more money for supplies to help the children of the program.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Quite well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

More financial backing to help supply the volunteers with materials such as their own crayons, markers and construction paper.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

It helped me to gain more experience as a future teacher by interacting with teachers and the students of the school.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

It gave me a feeling of accomplishment because I feel like I did something worthwhile with my time by helping my partner children both past and present and also helping the teachers in the classroom.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Volunteer & I helped the teachers in a Pre Kindergarten classroom setting. Also, I helped a child with his literacy and social skills, if only a little.
