Review for High Fives Nonprofit Foundation, Truckee, CA, USA
I was injured in 2006 when I was 20 years old. I was on a camping trip with friends when a drunk driver drove through our campsite and ran me over while I was sleeping. As a result, my spine was crushed, and my spinal cord was severed at T10.
Prior to my injury I spent most of my feee time in the mountains of Northern NM. Camping, hiking, skiing you name it. I always felt most alive and at peace in nature. Having that taken away from me for the past 15 years was really difficult and frustrating for me. The all-terrain hiking wheelchair I was awarded by the High Fives Foundation will allow me to once again access the mountains I’m surrounded by and grew up in. Finally having the equipment I need to get up hills, over rough terrain and through sand and snow will allow me to fully enjoy the place I live once again. Most importantly, thanks to the High Fives Foundation, I’ll finally get the opportunity to experience countless new adventures with my 10 year old daughter.
