I have been volunteering with Katal since April and these dedicated activists and organizers are a joy to work with and nothing less than inspiring. Katal's campaign to pass the parole reform #LessIsMoreNY bill and get it signed into law has been incredibly smart, focused, and unrelenting - even now, as the new law faces typical and disingenuous fear-mongering backlash. I love that Katal centers and amplifies the voices of the communities affected by the unfair systems that must be reformed. The work is founded on people’s stories and we hear directly from them at every opportunity. I've been to many of Katal's virtual meetings and in-person rallies and those times are always the highlight of my day. Virtually or in-person, their actions are always organized and imbued with contagious energy and kindness.
