I started learning about native plants from Kathleen of Pollinator Partnership Canada some years ago. With her help, we redid an entire area of our backyard that was overrun by Japanese Knotweed. In the span of one fall-spring, we not only managed to cut back the knotweed, but also introduce about 15 species of native plants to the area! A year later, and this is what I get to look at in the back corner of our yard that used to be a single stand of no activity. Now I have colour throughout the spring and fall, and the incredible number of bees, butterflies and other animals I have seen around this area is so amazing.
