Outreach International facilitates community-led development focused on ending chronic poverty, worldwide. Operating in 10 countries, OI uses a unique approach to building a sustainable impact with the communities that they work with. The approach begins with local OI staff becoming part of a community to learn about challenges that the community faces while learning about the resident, demographics, resources, and infrastructure. From there, the OI team partners with community leaders to facilitate discussions and ideas to address projects that will resolve local issues, while building new skills and capabilities within the community. OI then helps the community obtain resources (e.g., government grants, donations, etc.) to enable the project to take off. OI works with the community on implementation and typically exits a community within 5-6 years - sustainability within the community to carry on with the project(s) and expand is a key success factor of OI...and frankly a key differentiator to other non-profits.

What is even more amazing is that the approach is proven...demonstrated over 40 years...and the organization is well run, with some of the smartest, innovative, and hard-working people at the headquarters through the field. The financials are strong and the focus is doing the most good in the field...not building an "HQ" team.
