Review for Paws For Seniors, Toms Brook, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Paws for Seniors is one of the most wonderful animal rescue organizations that I have ever been associated with in my lifetime. After losing my beloved, near 16 YO Boston Terrier back in 2015, a friend shared a photo from the PFS FB page of a spunky little Boston named Ava, looking for a new home after being surrendered by her owner. I immediately submitted an application that Sunday night. On Monday, Brenda had contacted my references to investigate my background. By mid-week, we had arranged a meeting for that Friday, so Ava could meet my other Boston. Brenda was promptly on time, toured my house, spent time with my dog to see how well he was behaved and treated, and allowed Ava the time to acclimate to my house and dog. We sat and talked for a few hours, discussing animal care and treatment, my history with Boston Terriers, and many assurances that dogs are family members in my house, not just animals. As it turned out, Brenda was still there when my son arrived home from college for a weekend visit. Ava instantly took to him, and they spent time together while Brenda and I arranged for Ava to stay with us for the weekend on a trial basis. I had made arrangements for a vet check with my vet for Saturday morning, so all was in line. It was a perfect weekend, the vet gave Ava a clean bill of health and pronounced her a wonderful Boston. Six years later and at almost 13 years old, Ava is still an important part of my family. I can't imagine life without her, and I can't imagine not supporting Brenda and her PFS organization. They are doing great things for both the animals and the people in our community, matching pets to people in a loving, caring, and thoughtful way. I fully support Brenda and Jim and the work they do in our community.
