I have adopted three budgies from Mickaboo which is a total volunteer operation to take in stray, lost or surrendered parrots and find them permanent homes. If the birds are sick or have problems, they all receive professional health care. Before Mickaboo allows people to adopt a bird they must take a class to learn about training, handling and feeding for the species they want to adopt. There is also an application, phone check and home visit to offer suggestions to make sure there is a comfortable, safe place for the adopted bird. The foster birds are all spread out among volunteers. There is a fee charged for an adoption and continuous fundraising to pay for the vet bills. The dedication and knowledge of the volunteers is truly amazing!
