Review for Natural Resources Protective Association of Staten Island, Inc., Staten Island, NY, USA
This group of tireless volunteers works endlessly to protect threatened natural areas on Staten Island and throughout the city and the harbor. And, continues to identify new areas at risk.
They have an institutional memory that goes back decades and are respected by elected officials and community leaders alike. The NRPA aligns itself with like minded organizations and mentors new environmentalists as well as recruit young people to be the conservation leaders of tomorrow.
Review for Natural Resources Protective Association of Staten Island, Inc., Staten Island, NY, USA
This organization started more than 40 years ago and has only gotten better over time. The NRPA’s advocacy for our oceans and tidal wetlands has expanded to working with other organizations, schools and education for the community. Type ‘Staten Island Student Summit’ onto your browser and see a four minute video of the crew in action.
The assistant director of NYC Parks recently described the NRPA as “the most consistent and engaged volunteer group” he has seen while working for Parks.
