Sole Effects has awakened me to my own potential as an individual. This was achieved throughout my 8 weeks of training of different skills such as 'Communication', 'Public Speaking', etc. During these training sessions and breakout groups I was able to transpire this idea of myself that "I'm not a leader" into "I'm a natural leader". I realized that every one of these skills I already had, or could improve, and anyone can become a leader.

This is why it is important for future generations. Programs such as Sole Effects are gathering passionate youth to teach high schoolers (and each other) the skills they need to achieve their own dreams. We are taught in school how to do math, about the government, and perhaps even how to do taxes. What we are not taught it how to effectively communicate with one another about problems, how to have healthy relationships, how to enjoy public speaking, and how to build trust with teammates. Sole Effects has mastered creating an environment to foster growth and effective learning.

You might ask what makes a leader? My answer would be, someone who isn't afraid of going after their goals, someone who isn't afraid to be themselves, and someone who isn't afraid of laughing at themselves. Being a leader doesn't mean always being perfect, it's about standing back up and knowing where you'd like to go.

Most of all, within this program I've found a community of like-minded people that want to grow, inspire, and touch the hearts of people around us. That is priceless. I am forever grateful to call Sole Effects a home I can always go back to and rely on.
