I came to Above and Beyond through Thaddeus who is a long-time friend and I worked for him as an HIV counselor. He said "do you remember when we were kids and we could go to the rec center and play all day? well, I have a place like that for recovery." So, he put me in his car and took me there. I was amazed. It didn't look like a place that handled substance use. I rode here, graduated from the program, became an alumni and a mentor and I have been hired as a custodian. This place is like coming home! It is also filled with hope because the people who work here don't come here for just a job. They actually care about us and the clients. I would recommend this place to anyone who is dealing with mental health issues and substance use issues. Like Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz, There is no place like home. And that is what Above and Beyond is like: coming home.
