My name is karen Archer. My son Colt Porterfield died in 2006, and to say the least I was at the lowest point in my life. Barely abel to get out of bed daily. I met this group Listening Hearts accidentally, while on line fighting a cause for my son. The first group I attended, I can remember letting loose, crying, thinking this group of mothers really understand what I am going through. I would attend meetings, we would usually do a craft or share some food. Talk openly without fear of ridicule. I remember at some point I was even suicidal. These brave, hurting women, who had all lost children of their own, pulled me up and gave me hope. I eventually decided, if they can get up everyday and live. Then so could I. I had tried psychologist, nothing helped. This group, meetings are extremely beneficial to our communities. I thank God for this group and the work they do.
