I have been involved with ATOU since August of 2013. Its mission to educate school children about people with disabilities. build understanding, create empathy, and promote acceptance and respect for those who have a disability or may be different is tremendously powerful, memorable, and life changing for the students who go through the hands on activity stations in the workshops where they get to handle and try some of the adaptive equipment used by people have a disability and then have the opportunity to hear the incredible stories of several as speakers with disabilities who share what their disability is, how they became disabled, and how they overcame their by their disability, the tools they use, and how they live their lives. The program captures the attention of all the kids, has tremendous impact, and in addition to being insightful and educational is also tremendously inspiring for all the students who have the opportunity to go through an ATOU Workshop. use much
