When I inquired about adopting a pup from Sandra, the Owner, I was informed they would not make the trip to my location for a home check even though it’s in Broward County. Her website clearly shows they cover that county, not parts of it. When I offered up additional monies as incentive to make the drive I was treated in a very condescending manner and even insulted. As someone who volunteers in the rescue industry, it’s people like her that leave the adopter feeling disheartened. This is why people buy instead of adopt. She’s part of the problem. Furthermore, when I did some research on her I found all kinds of complaints, not surprisingly.

I have been volunteering with this non profit for a year and a half now. It has been one of the most rewarding of my many volunteer experiences. I have learned so much about the species and enjoy watching this sanctuary grow. It is often times the best part of my day and I look forward to many more years here.
