The Sam Field Center has been a source of various assistance, advice and guidance in the over 30 year period I have been its neighbor. The center has grown and changed along with the growth and change of my personal needs and concerns.
In the early years, i sent my children to their summer camps, taking advantage of these top rated, sought after facilities. As I aged and moved toward retirement, I sought out the retirement presentations and guidance for that major life change.
By far, my most active involvement has been in the last 12 years post-retirement. This coincides with the creation of Commonpoint Queens. The scope, detail and quality of programs now available is astonishing. Food assistance, Zoom presentations, voter info, holiday festivities, exercise classes, entertainment etc., etc. The professional quality and range of activities is mind-boggling. There is definitely something for everyone. The staff members are highly qualified and available when needed. They are concerned and caring and go the extra mile.
When I moved to this area in the '80's, I considered the school system, transportation availability, and other traditional factors. I did not realize then that my "GOOD NEIGHBOR SAM" would wind up being the most valuable element for me and my family. I am indeed fortunate.
