I am a volunteer and volunteer organizer with several different groups that are working toward urgent reforms to our carceral system, and I have to say that Katal Center is a leading example of how to engage in leadership development, and very effective training for volunteers to make a meaningful impact on the legislative process. Whenever I come across an organization that is so politically saavy AND lives up to its ideals about grassroots movement-building, with both directly-impacted people and concerned citizens, I want to invest my precious time and energy with them. Katal is one of those organizations and I believe they must be championed and supported to continue having the resources and base that they can turn into concrete wins for a better future for everyone.
