Review for The Grand, Ellsworth, ME, USA
People do not realize how much the Grand does, with so little resources. We rely 100% on volunteer actors to put on 4 major productions a year, with tons of small events sprinkled throughout the year. Some home grown talent from around the area, some traveling the country. We have no endowment to cover operational expenses, and rely 100% on revenue brought into the theater to pay the bills. Unlike our competitors who all have mega endowments to fund their operations. This doesn't stop us from putting on great content all throughout the year. People need to know this isn't easy, though. It takes dedication from volunteers to keep things going, since we can't afford to pay for the help in most cases. Even the small things like being an usher can help. Spread the word about this fantastic venue, and how much it does. Maybe even consider donating to one of our many large fundraisers to spruce up the place! New Stage lighting, energy upgrades, and a new HVAC are just a few of the large scale projects we're working towards.
Review for The Grand, Ellsworth, ME, USA
Beautiful art deco theater, located in Ellsworth. A wonderful place for folks to see their friends and family members perform on stage. Quality programming, good snacks, and cold beer. All the ingredients necessary to have a great time. The theater offers a wide variety or programming. From comedy routines of Bob Marley to live theater. The Metropolitan Opera House streamed in HD, to Ellsworth Dancing with the Stars. Next time you're in Ellsworth, stop in for a show!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find a donor willing to bulk up their endowment. This facility operates 99% on ticket sales and donations. This means large projects, equipment failures, and even general maintenance can wildly affect their budget. Endowments provide funds annually for capital expenditures, to be used to keep the lights on, and the building warm.
