Review for A Touch of Understanding Inc, Granite Bay, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

ATOU came at a time in my life when I was searching for meaning in my new beginning. I was paralyzed by a drunk driver while training for a triathlon on my bicycle in 2004. Prior to my paralysis, I was the marketing manager at an engineering firm in the Silicon Valley. The firm paid for me to earn my master’s degree in Mass Communications; and this degree has served me well in my paralyzed life. Touch of Understanding has a 70-author book about how the organization has influenced and inspired volunteers and schools, alike. Voices of a Dream is sold @ Amazon and the publishing costs were donated, so every book sold helps ATOU disseminate it’s important message. ATOU took the COVID chaos and presented to schools remotely, delivering some tools to the school, but presenting from our homes. ATOU is a nonprofit that is vital to school children. We teach kindness, empathy, and compassion through our award-winning presentations.

I found ATOU in a perfect time in my life: when I needed to be a part of something that gives back and helps educate youngsters. I was a marketing manager in the Silicon Valley, working for an engineering firm that had recently paid the tuition for my graduate school. I was paralyzed by a drunk driver while on a bike ride, training for the 2004 triathlon season. ATOU entered my life and has given me hope and a platform to teach youngsters about the importance of education, the importance of wearing a helmet, the importance of family and friends. ATOU’s mission to help children treat each other with kindness and respect completely gels with my values. I couldn’t have found a better non-profit to give my time to.
