As a Site Coordinator within the PreventNet Department at NWFS, we saw a lot of success during the year of COVID. One of the most exciting things we did was create a weekly Hiking Club for students to have a chance to get outside and make friends. Some students who joined felt extremely isolated at home during the school year, and Hiking Club was the first event their parents allowed them to do in person as it was outside and obeyed COVID guidelines. One member said it is the best thing she did all year and another member said he would consider it an early birthday present to be able to attend the club! We loved seeing the students learn and develop a sense of purpose and identity.
