My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Trees For Life, Wichita, KS, USA
Trees for Life is one of the few non-profits with a long-term outlook, one that they intend to last longer than they will themselves. In India, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Liberia, etc., they go only where invited, teach people to organize and help themselves, then leave officially, but maintain contact as friends. Their focus is on education, nutrition, health, environment, and water, but most of all, people.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I personally value the lessons I learned at Trees for Life, and volunteering there inspired me to return to graduate school.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
The place fosters family; every single person I met there continues to be a friend. Staff are interested and know how to put people first.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Twice this organization has declined multi-million dollar gifts because they felt it would change their focus from people to things. With a mindset like this, I do think it could do more than most with $10 million.
Ways to make it better...
...it had been longer (I volunteered there full-time for 1 1/2 years).
One thing I'd also say is that...
I suppose my glowing review might seem disingenuous, given that I have nothing bad to say and everything wonderful. I'm not sure how to convince otherwise... just call them and see for yourself.
