Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA
I served as VP of the Southeast Produce Council and saw first hand the benefits of our being associated with SOSA. In addition to their hardworking volunteers gleaning the fields across the country; I saw first hand the difference they made throughout the Southeast. I saw the expression on the families in Martin County, KY brighten when they came to the food bank and received a variety of produce to take home. I've also served on the SOSA Board and seen how careful they are with spending money within the office. How this organization attracted so many like hearted kind people I don't know. Each one is emotionally invested in what they do. When our growers have excess produce they are instrumental in arranging transportation (trucks) to get the produce to families that need it. I am so impressed with the leadership of this organization.

I have been on the Board of Directors for many non profits, however, I have never seen an organization that works so hard and runs so smoothly. In my career I have seen the hunger problem first hand and it's heartbreaking. Its refreshing to see how carefully SOSA watches their expenses so that every penny possible goes to feeding the hungry. The management and staff are extremely dedicated. The skills, awareness and networking of the Executive Director, Lynette Johnson, leads this amazing group of caring people. I am very proud to be a part of such an AMAZING organization. Sheila Carden, Richmond, VA
