Review for Maasai Girls Rescue Center, SCOTTSDALE, AZ, USA
MGRC is a unique organization. They are an entrepreneurial charity that operates like a business. With the goal to become financially self sufficient over the coming years by implementing a strategic business plan to develop the eco-Village. (Farm for food, vocational school for the girls' future independence and financial self sufficiency, eco-Lodge for the center's ability to become a non-profit business). Currently, 100% of donations go to the operating of the center. All administration overhead is provided by volunteers. What other charity has that type of business model and most important - saves the lives of over 60 young at risk girls in Tanzania, Africa!. MGRC is an organization that is taking a new approach to solving poverty in a long term, sustainable and responsible method.
Review for Maasai Girls Rescue Center, SCOTTSDALE, AZ, USA
MGRC is an organization with so much heart - their love for the Maasai girls, their families and the community is inspiring. This is an organization that understands the importance of guiding and developing these girls to become confident, independent women - who can take care of themselves to live a better life. MGRC does not want to give free hand outs, but they want to provide helping hands to give a hand up - helping the girls to learn how to lift themselves out of poverty. By teaching them skills (reading, writing, math, cooking, cleaning, gardening, farming, etc) they will grow up and have the ability to take care of themselves. They will be able to also help their families and their community. MGRC has the long term goal to help the Maasai community to develop the skills needed to become self sufficient - to lift themselves out of poverty. I am very humbled and proud to sponsor a young girl and to volunteer and work with this amazing organization that is making a difference in the lives of so many.
